(August 16, 2016) – Each fall the New England First Amendment Coalition (NEFAC) hosts a three-day investigative journalism workshop and invite 25 reporters and editors to attend at no cost. The deadline to apply is August 31.
In the last five years, NEFAC has provided training to more than 100 journalists and has become a resource many newsrooms in the region can no longer afford to provide their staff. During the institute, veteran journalists and media attorneys share stories, teach reporting techniques and provide strategies on how to best navigate public record laws. This year’s institute is from Oct. 16-18 in Dedham, Mass. Bill Keller, formerly of The New York Times and currently of The Marshall Project, will deliver the keynote address. Other faculty include Don Van Natta of ESPN, Jenifer McKim of the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, Mike Rezendes of The Boston Globe, Jeremy Singer-Vine of BuzzFeed News and Vincent Duffy of Michigan Radio.
If you are interested in applying visit the NEFAC site or this page for application materials.
