You are invited!
As a member of the NH news community, you are invited to participate in Stronger Together, a two-session summit co-hosted by New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters (NHAB) and the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Hampshire (PDFNH).
Along with moderator Scott Spradling, join media panelists Celine McArthur (NH-1 News), Amy Coveno (WMUR-TV), Brian Wallstin (NHPR) and Trent Spiner (Union Leader) for in-depth discussions about the State’s drug epidemic and about news coverage surrounding this topic. Governor Maggie Hassan will deliver a brief welcome message to kick off our panel sessions.
There will be substance use disorder professionals from 30+ statewide non-profit organizations in attendance seeking information and guidance from our news professionals during the first panel session. Your input will be an important component to the success of this session.
As panelists in a separate session, PDFNH members will present on topics of interest to the news community such as:
- The landscape of the NH’s drug free/substance use disorder communities: who handles what, how the state is involved, and what is actually available for services and to whom.
- Conversations about grey-area topics such as how the ACA will affect people seeking treatment and those in recovery; BDAS’s contract process; Medicaid/”Transformation,” the alcohol fund, and the implications of classifying addiction as a disease.
- Resource sheets on “appropriate messaging” and contacts for information pertaining to alcohol and other drug misuse in the areas of prevention, treatment and recovery will be available.
There will be opportunities for Q & A during and after this panel session.
This is an invitation only event and it is not open to the public; however, this invitation may be shared with others at your station. Stations attending as groups will be given priority seating if they respond by the date below.
Light refreshments will be provided.
